There, Tomek falls in love with the beautiful and eccentric diva Gensonina (Joanna Kulig), finds money and fame, and girls are dancing only for him. They begin their career playing at country discos and fire stations, and eventually, as ‘LASER’, the duo reaches the top by signing a contract with the ‘Alfa’ recording company, where Daniel Polak (Tomasz Kot) reigns supreme.
Tomek and Rudy, two country boys fuelled by passion, bid the grey reality farewell and embark on the quest to become Disco Polo stars. During the ‘crazy nineties’ freedom returns to Poland, and the entire country dreams the American Dream in the midst of the ‘great transformation’, the new ‘gold rush’, hopes of going ‘from rags to riches’ can come true.
